Understanding Boise County Releases
“Released” names the end of one agency's custody. It does not always mean a person went home. Boise County has a local sheriff holding and processing function, while current county minutes document paid housing through Ada County Jail. A person may leave local control for Ada, leave Ada for the community, transfer into the Idaho Department of Correction, or move to another county or federal authority. The movement entry and receiving agency settle that point.
A release record should be read with the court case and the correct custody system. Bond, a court order, time served, prosecutor instruction, parole, probation, sentence completion, and transfer have different effects. Dismissal is a court result, not a physical-exit timestamp. Parole is supervised release during a sentence. Discharge means correctional authority has ended. A current roster answers who is held now; it is not an archive of Boise County released inmates.
- Release
- The end of custody by a named jail or agency.
- Transfer
- Movement to another lawful custodian, not community freedom.
- Parole
- Conditional community release controlled by the parole authority.
- Discharge
- The end of a correctional sentence or supervision obligation.
Boise County Release Types
Ada County Sheriff's policy identifies several authorities that can end an Ada jail episode. The implemented jail record matters more than an expected outcome. A judge may authorize release, yet processing or a second hold can delay or redirect the departure. The same care applies to bond and sentence completion. Ask for the effective date, time, type, and destination.
| Release type | Meaning | Next proof |
|---|---|---|
| Bond | Valid bail was accepted where permitted. | Ada movement record and court docket |
| Court order | The jail received legal authority to end that custody. | Filed order plus jail implementation |
| Time served | The jail calculation reached the ordered term. | Judgment, credit calculation, release entry |
| Transfer | Another agency took custody. | Receiving agency and destination |
| Parole or probation | The person entered community supervision. | IDOC status and supervising office |
| Discharge | IDOC authority ended for the shown sentence. | IDOC discharged status and date |
When Boise County Bond Clears
Ada policy permits bail at any time when bail has been set. Payment still may not be the physical exit time. A person who is under the influence of alcohol or drugs may remain until no longer considered a risk, or until a responsible adult accepts responsibility. Other holds can also prevent community release.
For that reason, keep three moments separate: bond posting, court authorization, and departure from the jail. Confirm the last one with Ada County Jail. Then ask whether another agency received the person. The Ada County Sheriff's policy manual explains the local qualification, while the individual movement record supplies the actual result.
Boise County Release Record Fields
A complete custody record ties the departure to the same booking episode. Names alone can match more than one person. Use a date of birth, booking or incident number, case number, and a narrow date range. When Boise County made the arrest but Ada performed the physical booking, the two agencies can own different parts of the file.
| Field | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Full name and date of birth | Identity tied to the episode |
| Booking or incident number | The exact arrest and custody transaction |
| Admission date and time | When the custodian began holding the person |
| Release date and time | When that custodian's control ended |
| Authority or disposition | Bond, order, sentence completion, or other basis |
| Destination | Community release or the receiving agency |
| Supervision | Parole, probation, office, and related status when recorded |
No public release-feed retention window was found. That does not mean the underlying record vanished. Written sheriff records, the iCourt case, and applicable IDOC entries remain separate sources, each subject to its own access and retention rules.
Request Boise County Release Records
Boise County Sheriff's Records requires a written, specific request and does not release record information by telephone. It can hold the local arrest, holding, and transport portion. When Ada physically booked the person, use the Ada County Sheriff's public-record request for Ada's booking, movement, release, and photo records.
- Identify the person with full name, birth date, case or booking number, and a narrow date range.
- Ask for booking, custody, movement, and release entries, including effective time, authority, and receiving agency.
- Send the request to BCSO and, for contract housing, to ACSO. Ask for electronic copies and a cost estimate before a charge.
- If part is withheld, ask for the legal basis and reasonably separable nonexempt fields.
- Compare the returned entry with the court order and any later IDOC, BOP, or ICE status.

Written requests; copy fees are prepaid.
ACSO states that ordinary requests take about three to ten business days and may involve a fee. BCSO does not state a fixed amount in the research. Ask either office for an estimate. Do not treat a no-record response as proof that no event occurred; it may identify the wrong custodian.
Idaho Rules for Boise Releases
Idaho Code section 74-102 generally presumes agency records open unless an exemption applies. For resident requests, the usual baseline is a grant or denial within three working days. Written notice may extend retrieval to ten working days. Law-enforcement records still receive review for investigations, victim data, private facts, and fair-trial interests.
Court records follow Idaho Court Administrative Rule 32, not the general agency-record procedure. A sealed case remains preserved but is not publicly available. Idaho Clean Slate relief shields an eligible case after the legal conditions are met; it does not destroy every source record. Juvenile and protected records can also be unavailable. A missing public result must be reported as missing, not as proof that the record never existed.
Why Boise Releases Appear in Ada
Boise County and the City of Boise are different places. The county seat and sheriff are in Idaho City. Search results for “Boise jail” often lead to Ada County because the City of Boise is there. In this project, Ada is relevant for a second reason: Boise County minutes approve Ada County Sheriff's jail-housing agreements.
Historic Boise County holding-facility policies from 1999 remain online, but the current Idaho Sheriffs' Association directory omits Boise County from its operating-jail list. The careful conclusion is a local holding and processing function with documented contract housing, not a confirmed long-term county jail. The FY2025 county minutes support the Ada agreement. They do not prove every arrestee follows the same path.
Find Boise County Released Inmates
Start with the last known custodian, not a broad name search. The Boise County sheriff has no public inmate or release search. Ada's roster covers current custody and warns that its data can lag. After a person drops from that roster, the written release entry, court chronology, and any receiving system provide the history.
- Confirm whether BCSO sent the person to Ada County Jail or another authority.
- Check the Ada current roster only to test present custody, then call if timing matters.
- Search iCourt for the Boise County case, filed order, judgment, and disposition.
- For felony custody or supervision, search IDOC by name or ID and read the exact status and date labels.
- Use VINELink for a reported custody event and future alerts, while confirming county participation live.
- For federal or immigration custody, use BOP or ICE rather than a county roster.
- Request the written movement and release record when public screens do not settle the question.
A name leaving Ada's current roster does not prove community release. It can also reflect transfer, delayed data, or an identity mismatch.
IDOC Boise Release Search
The IDOC Resident/Client Search covers Idaho prison custody and felony community supervision. Search results use exact status terms such as In custody, In community, and Discharged. A sentence detail can show Parole, Probation, Released to Supervision, a Parole Eligibility Date, or a Sentence Satisfaction Date. Read each label literally.
| Search input or field | Use |
|---|---|
| Name | Start with the full legal name and test known variants |
| IDOC number | Best discriminator when known |
| Overall status | Shows custody, community, discharge, or warrant wording |
| Sentence status | Can distinguish parole from probation |
| Released to Supervision | Dates the move into community supervision |
| Supervising district | Identifies the office to verify current reporting |
The official search screen is shown below from the IDOC source.
The portal is statewide. It may show a Boise County case after transfer to IDOC, even though no state prison sits in Boise County.
No Boise Recent-Release Feed
No official Boise County or Ada County 24-hour or 72-hour released-person archive was found. Ada publishes a current-inmate roster that refreshes every 24 hours and warns that recent changes may not appear. It directs users to phone or in-person confirmation. That cadence belongs to the custody list, not to a release feed.
For a same-day event, call Ada County Jail at 208-577-3000 and ask whether Ada custody ended and whether a receiving agency is recorded. Confirm the local destination with BCSO. For an older event, use written ACSO and BCSO requests, iCourt, and IDOC when state custody followed. Waiting three days creates no legal presumption of release.
Boise Release Orders and Court Timing
Boise County District Court handles felony criminal matters, while Magistrate Court handles misdemeanor criminal matters. The county posts unusually specific calendar information, including daily in-custody sessions at 1 p.m. A scheduled hearing can help locate a likely order. It is not a jail release timetable.
Search the Idaho iCourt Portal for the Boise County case and review the chronology, minutes, judgment, orders, and disposition. Some documents require the courthouse kiosk or a clerk request. Court Assistance does not handle criminal cases or records questions. The Boise County clerk is the correct local office, but the custodian's later movement record still proves the physical exit.
Boise County Release Supervision
Boise County Community Justice handles local pretrial services and adult misdemeanor probation. IDOC supervises felony probation and parole, generally through District 4 for Boise County. Do not merge those offices. The actual IDOC record may name another supervising district if the person lives elsewhere.
An IDOC result marked In community can show sentence-level Parole or Probation, the Released to Supervision date, and an office. An Active Bench Warrant is not the same as custody or discharge. Verify it with the displayed district. Parole eligibility and a tentative parole date do not prove release; look for the later community status.
ID After a Boise County Release
Boise County provides duplicate Idaho identification and driver-license service at the Idaho City sheriff location and the Horseshoe Bend courthouse annex. Posted service hours are generally 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., without an appointment, subject to the proof the state requires. This is practical post-release navigation and is separate from custody verification.
The Boise County driver-license page gives current local instructions. A registry-data correction follows a different route: Idaho State Police directs a person to the local sheriff that verified the registration data.
Boise Release Alerts and Federal Records
Idaho VINE provides phone, text, and email status updates for IDOC. County-jail participation should be checked in the live Idaho agency selector rather than assumed. A VINE release event means release from the reporting custodian. It can still be a transfer. Pair the alert with the jail record, court file, or IDOC status.
For a federally sentenced person, the BOP Inmate Locator can show a release date and “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody.” BOP itself warns that another agency may hold the person. ICE's online locator covers current detainees and people released from ICE custody during the prior 60 days. No Boise County federal or ICE facility was established, and no public USMS released-person locator was found.
Where Boise Release Status Appears
Choose the source by system and time. Each result has a narrow meaning. Record the search date, identifiers, source, and exact wording before drawing a conclusion.
| Source | What it answers | Main limit |
|---|---|---|
| Ada current roster | Whether a matching person appears in current jail custody | Daily lag; no released archive |
| BCSO or ACSO release record | Departure time, authority, and destination held by that custodian | Requires a specific written request |
| IDOC search | State custody, community supervision, or discharge | Does not cover every county or federal event |
| iCourt | Orders, judgment, and case disposition | An order is not physical-exit proof |
| VINELink | Reported event and prospective alert | Not a complete historical archive |
| BOP or ICE | That federal system's limited custody status | Departure may lead to another authority |
Boise County Release Systems
The facility map includes local processing, contract jail housing, and the state and federal systems that may receive a person. It does not claim that every Boise County arrest follows one route. Confirm the individual movement.
- Boise County Sheriff / legacy Boise County Holding Facility: local arrest, holding, processing, and transport records.
- Ada County Jail: the documented contract jail and physical booking custodian in applicable cases.
- Idaho Department of Correction system: statewide felony custody, parole, probation, and discharge.
- Federal Bureau of Prisons system: federal sentence custody and BOP release status.
- ICE detention system: immigration custody and its limited recent-release lookup.
Use “released from” with the named custodian. If the destination is unknown, stop there. “Ada custody ended,” “IDOC supervision began,” and “BOP reports no current custody” are precise statements; none should be expanded into a claim that no other authority holds the person.
