Boise County Booking Photo Records
A booking photograph is created for identification during an arrest or jail intake. It is distinct from a release entry, court disposition and corrections status. The image can remain in the custodian's file after a person leaves the current roster. Whether an agency must disclose a particular Boise County released inmate mugshot depends on whether the record exists, which agency holds it, Idaho public-record law and any applicable exemption.
Idaho Code section 74-102 generally presumes agency records open unless an exemption applies. Law-enforcement records still receive individual review for active investigations, victims, personal information and fair-trial concerns. No verified Idaho law creates a blanket right to every booking photo. Research also found no special statewide mugshot publication or anti-pay-to-remove statute, so claims that every image must be released are not supported.
Ask for the photo as its own item. A release record, booking sheet and booking photograph can be indexed separately. Include the full name, date of birth, approximate arrest and booking dates, and known incident, case or booking number. Boise County Released Mugshot Channels
No official released-person mugshot gallery was found for Boise County or the contracted Ada jail. The official Ada roster is a current-custody tool, updates every 24 hours and has no released view. Its accessible presentation did not establish a photo field. The careful statement is that no roster photo channel was verified, not that the roster always displays or never maintains an image.

VINELink is a notification and one-person custody-status channel. It is not a sheriff mugshot app and should not be presented as a photo archive. A VINE release event also describes release from the reporting custodian, which can include transfer.
Two Boise County Photo Custodians
Boise County's contract-housing arrangement creates an unusual record split. The Boise County Sheriff's Office can own arrest, incident and transport records, while Ada County may own the physical jail booking file. A person arrested in Boise County may therefore have records in Idaho City and a booking photograph in Ada County. If local processing produced another image, both agencies can hold distinct records from the same episode.
Start by asking BCSO where the person was booked. If Ada County completed intake, send a focused request through the Ada County Sheriff's public-records channel. If BCSO created a photograph or the Ada response does not cover local processing, use the BCSO Records Section. Do not ask one agency to certify a record held only by the other.

This records route is more reliable than assuming a current roster retains photographs after release.
BCSO Records accepts written requests and does not release records by telephone. Its records line is 208-392-6059. Ada County Sheriff's Records can be reached at 208-577-3012 for request questions. Ada states that ordinary requests may take three to ten business days and may involve a fee. BCSO requires any copy charge to be prepaid; ask for an estimate because a specific photo fee was not confirmed.
Request Boise County Released Mugshots
A narrow request helps the agency find the correct photograph and avoids confusion between Boise County and the City of Boise. Name the arresting agency, suspected booking custodian and exact episode. State that the desired record is the booking photograph in electronic form, not a current roster screenshot or a general list of released people.
- Confirm the person with full name, date of birth and a case, incident or booking number when known.
- Call BCSO at 208-392-4411 or Ada Jail at 208-577-3000 to identify the physical booking custodian. A phone call can route the request but does not replace a written record.
- Submit the written request to Ada for an Ada booking and to BCSO for any locally created image. Ask each office to search only records it holds.
- Request the booking photograph separately from the booking sheet, movement log and release record.
- Ask for electronic delivery, a cost estimate and a written statutory explanation for any withheld portion.
- Use the returned release or movement record, not the photograph, to determine when and to whom custody ended.
For an Idaho resident request, the agency ordinarily grants or denies access within three working days. Written notice can extend completion to ten working days when more retrieval time is needed. Nonresident timing can extend under section 74-103. The first two labor hours and first 100 paper pages are generally free for an Idaho resident, though actual permitted costs can follow.
Note: A precise request may still be redacted or denied after the agency reviews the image and the circumstances of the case.
No Boise County Mugshot Feed
No BCSO or Ada County sheriff mobile app advertising a released-person list or mugshots surfaced in the research. The Boise County Sheriff's Office has an official web presence and an official Facebook page, but social posts are episodic public-safety updates. They do not form a complete booking-photo archive and have no verified release-window or retention rule.
That negative finding prevents two common errors. First, a social arrest image must not be treated as proof that the person was later released. Second, a missing post or image says nothing about whether a booking happened. Confirm the custody event with the jail record and the legal result with the Boise County court case.
Local news may reproduce an agency image when an arrest is newsworthy. Use the original agency release when it is available, and read the story only as evidence of what was reported at that time. News publication does not establish the current case status, a release timestamp or the person's destination after custody.
VINE can be accessed from a mobile device, but it belongs to the victim-notification system. It is not evidence that either sheriff operates a photo app. Its role is to report changes from participating custodians and accept future notification registrations.
Idaho Images Are Different Records
The IDOC Resident/Client Search can show whether a person is in custody, in the community or discharged. Inspected public details exposed text fields such as IDOC number, status, released to supervision and sentence information, but did not establish a public portrait. IDOC may maintain identifying images, yet exact public availability, fees and releasability were not confirmed. Do not promise a free corrections mugshot.
The Idaho Central Sex Offender Registry is a separate official database for people who have a statutory registration duty. It may contain registry imagery, but that image serves registry purposes. The registry is not comprehensive of Boise County released inmates, and a missing name does not disprove a jail booking or establish custody status.

Use it only for its defined registry purpose and direct data corrections to the local verifying sheriff identified by Idaho State Police.
Federal and immigration systems are also distinct. A federal inmate locator record or an ICE locator result addresses custody within that named system. Neither supplies the Boise County or Ada booking photograph from an earlier local arrest.
Photos Do Not Prove Boise Release
A released person usually leaves the current Ada roster after the daily update, but roster absence has several meanings. The person may have been released to the community, transferred to IDOC, delivered to another county, handed to federal authorities, moved to immigration custody or entered under a different spelling. An old photograph cannot resolve those possibilities.
For a Boise County arrest, first establish contract housing before using Ada's source. Search the current Ada roster, note its displayed update time, and call the jail. Then contact BCSO to confirm where Boise County sent the person. Request the Ada movement and release entry if Ada held the person. Search iCourt for the legal basis, and use IDOC when a felony commitment or state supervision is plausible.
The best wording stays tied to the custodian: “released from Ada County Jail,” “transferred to IDOC,” or “released to supervision.” Avoid claiming that the person is simply free when the destination is not known. A photograph should be cited only as an image from a named booking episode.
Boise Mugshots, Shielding, and Corrections
Idaho court records and agency records follow different access rules. Court materials are governed by Idaho Court Administrative Rule 32. A court can seal or redact under its standards, while law-enforcement agencies evaluate their own responsive records under the Public Records Act and applicable exemptions. A change to the public court file does not automatically prove that every agency copy or previously published image was destroyed.
Idaho Clean Slate relief is shielding, not blanket deletion. It generally requires completion of the full sentence, including parole or probation, fines and restitution, followed by the required waiting period and statutory eligibility. A shielded case becomes unavailable to the public but remains accessible to authorized actors. Ask the court what its order covers, then send that order to the agency holding the booking photograph and request a written response.
If an official image is attached to the wrong person or episode, give the custodian the precise identifiers and explain the mismatch. For a registry image error, follow Idaho State Police instructions and contact the sheriff that verified the registry data. Preserve the agency response. Do not infer that removal from one source changes every other official record.
