Boise County Parole Versus Probation
Idaho divides authority among the courts, the Idaho Commission of Pardons and Parole, and the Idaho Department of Correction. A court orders probation, which permits a person to serve a sentence or case period in the community under stated terms. The Commission controls parole, a conditional release from prison after the person becomes eligible. IDOC supervises both state felony groups. Boise County Community Justice has a different role: it manages local pretrial services and adult misdemeanor probation.
That split matters after a Boise County release. A person leaving Ada County Jail on a misdemeanor probation order may report locally. A person leaving state prison on parole is normally assigned through an IDOC district. The sentencing county does not prove which district currently supervises the person, so the live individual record controls.
| Status | Who orders it | Where to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Felony probation | District Court | IDOC Resident/Client Search and listed district |
| Parole | Commission of Pardons and Parole | Commission decision, then IDOC community record |
| Adult misdemeanor probation | Local court | Boise County Community Justice and court record |
| Pretrial supervision | Local court | Community Justice and the pending case |
- Parole
- Conditional community release from a prison sentence before sentence satisfaction.
- Probation
- Court-ordered community supervision, which can be imposed without a prison release.
- Discharge
- The end of IDOC sentence jurisdiction, not merely release from a jail or prison.
- Absconder
- A supervision term for a person whose whereabouts or compliance cannot be confirmed; it does not by itself show current custody.
Check Boise County Supervision Records
The official IDOC Resident/Client Search is the main public channel for a Boise County felony client. Search by at least two letters of the last name, optionally add the first name, or use at least three digits of an IDOC number. Similar names and multiple IDOC numbers can appear. Compare the full name, birth year, IDOC number, case information and sentencing county before treating a result as a match.
- Open the IDOC search and locate the correct person with official identifiers.
- Read the overall status. In community supports active community jurisdiction; In custody does not.
- Open the detail record and find sentence-level Probation or Parole, the Released to Supervision date, supervising district, officer and phone.
- If the record is stale or unclear, call the district displayed on that record. IDOC says its database updates daily, so a rapid change may not appear yet.
- Reconcile the result with the Boise County court docket and the releasing custodian when the exact custody-exit date matters.
IDOC status labels answer different questions. Released to Supervision is the latest date a court or the Commission placed the person on supervision. In community describes current overall jurisdiction. Discharged means the sentence was satisfied. A future Sentence Satisfaction Date is not proof of release, and an Active Bench Warrant is neither routine supervision nor confirmed custody.
The official IDOC District 4 page shows the office serving the Fourth Judicial District.
This office is a likely Boise County felony supervision contact, but the district on the individual IDOC record remains decisive.
Two Boise County Supervision Offices
Boise County has two practical supervision routes. Boise County Community Justice handles local pretrial services and adult misdemeanor probation. Its posted check-in and travel forms may explain a local participant's duties. It is not the felony parole office. IDOC District 4 generally serves Boise County felony clients, along with Ada, Elmore and Valley counties, but reassignment can place a person elsewhere.

When the office shown online differs from the expected Boise-area office, use the displayed office. Supervision can move with residence, approved plans or case administration. A court clerk can supply the filed probation order, but the current supervising agency is better positioned to confirm reporting details.
Boise County Parole Hearing Proof
The Commission hearing schedule is a live weekly calendar. Its regular parole and revocation agendas list a name and IDOC number. Dates and times may change. Incarcerated participants appear virtually, while public attendance and testimony follow the Commission's current rules. A listing proves only that a hearing is scheduled.
The schedule's layout can be reviewed at the official source.
Match the IDOC number, then continue to the decision and later corrections status instead of treating the agenda as a release list.
The Commission decisions index generally posts a Notice of Action Taken by Friday after a hearing. Outcomes can include grant, denial, continuance, reinstatement after revocation, or passage to a full-term date. A notice may state a TPD, or Tentative Parole Date. That date can still depend on programming, plan approval, paperwork, detainers and later Commission action.
Reliable confirmation follows a sequence: hearing schedule, Notice of Action Taken, later IDOC In community status, and sentence-level Released to Supervision. A grant to a detainer may lead to another custodian, not a return to Boise County.
Boise County Violations and Warrants
Supervision terms vary by order and agency. They may include reporting, travel approval, treatment, payment or other case-specific duties. The actual court order, Commission action and supervising office control. Community Justice posts local forms, while IDOC supplies state reporting contacts on the client record.
No Boise County public felony absconder roster was found. If IDOC displays Active Bench Warrant, verify it directly with the agency and court. That label does not establish where the person is, whether a new jail booking occurred or whether another custodian holds the person. Search the Ada current roster only for current Ada housing, check the Boise County case in iCourt, and contact the named supervision office.
VINELink may provide custody-change alerts for a participating agency, but it is not a supervision-history database. A VINE event reports a change from the named custodian and can reflect a transfer. It should be paired with the source agency record.
Note: Write down each system's update time and exact status wording before asking an office to resolve a conflict.
Identification After Boise County Release
Boise County offers a practical post-release service separate from supervision records. The county's driver licensing service lists duplicate Idaho identification and driver-license service at the Idaho City sheriff location and the Horseshoe Bend courthouse annex. Posted hours are generally 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., without an appointment, subject to proof requirements and current office availability.
This service can help a person replace identification needed for ordinary daily tasks after release. It does not change parole or probation status, and staff there do not verify supervision. Direct supervision questions to Community Justice or the district shown by IDOC. If a person has a registry-data correction, the Idaho State Police registry directs corrections to the local sheriff that verified the information.
When Boise County Supervision Ends
Release from custody, release to supervision and discharge are separate milestones. Parole remains conditional while the sentence continues. Probation remains active until the court or supervising authority ends it. IDOC's Discharged status is the clearest public sign that state sentence jurisdiction ended on the displayed date. IDOC preserves a discharged person's name and discharge date while suppressing conviction details for satisfied cases.
A Boise County court record can contain an order ending probation or resolving a violation. Court records follow Idaho Court Administrative Rule 32, not the general public-records process. Search iCourt, verify the Boise County case number, then ask the clerk for a document that is not available online. For the physical end of a prior jail stay, use the release or movement record from the agency that actually held the person.
Idaho Clean Slate relief is shielding rather than destruction. Eligibility generally requires completion of the entire sentence, including parole or probation, fines and restitution, followed by the required waiting period and other statutory limits. A shielded case is no longer public, but authorized access can remain. Do not read a missing public case as proof that no supervision ever existed.
